Govt records show Mahbooba did appreciate Modi

New Delhi, December 17: BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said on Saturday that the Government record clears the air, which proves that Mehbooba Mufti had indeed appreciated Narendra Modi few months ago.

On September 19, Sushma Swaraj spoke on Sadhbhavana Upvas and where she quoted Ms Mehbooba Mufti’s comments regarding Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the National Integration Council (NIC) meeting.

“Ms Mehbooba Mufti told the media that I (Mufti) had been misquoted in my (Swaraj) comments. And that time, she wanted that Government of India to release the text of the proceedings of meeting,” Sushma Swaraj recalled today.  

She further said, “I have now received the verbatim record of the proceedings of the NIC meeting held on 10th September 2011.”

As per the official record Ms. Mehbooba Mufti stated “…I recall once I was in Chennai and I met someone, a Muslim businessman and he told me that he had gone to see Gujarat Chief Minister, and he said I was very impressed, I had an appointment with him regarding some business deal and he had got all the officers there, around him. They did not take even ten minutes and he got his job done….”

Sushama Swaraj has tweeted on her micro blog tweeter, which reads “I am putting this not to embarrass Ms Mehbooba Mufti but only to set the record straight.”
