Vapi, November 6 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Congress has become synonymous with corruption and warned the party of a bleak future, News agencies reported. He was addressing at LK Advani’s Jan Chetana Yatra here.

He noted furtehr that every time people have risen against graft, governments have fallen.

"Every time a voice against corruption is raised, be it Anna Hazare's, yoga guru Ramdev's or Advaniji's, the Congress's face comes to the fore. I know the result of this campaign. The party in power at the Centre will have to go. Every time people have stood up against graft, governments have fallen," Modi said addressing a rally in Vapi along with LK Advani.

He drew home his point by referring to the Chiman Bhai Patel government in Gujarat which fell allegedly following attempts to buy over a Jan Sangh corporator in 1974 to win municipal corporation elections.

"On corruption, the governments of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi also had to fall," he said in a warning to the Congress ahead of assembly elections in five states including Gujarat next year.

Modi went on to accuse the Congress of trying to deflect the nation's attention from corruption by linking every anti-graft voice to the RSS.

He was speaking in the light of Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh's remarks that the RSS was behind the campaign of Ramdev and Anna and most recently Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
"It has become a fashion with the Congress to tag anybody raising a voice against corruption with the RSS," Modi said.

Speaking at the rally as Advani's Jan Chetna Yatra entered Gujarat on Sunday, Modi said, "If you see the history of the nation, you will find that corruption has been continuing since the times of Pandit Nehru.

"But people were unable to raise their voice against corruption and a voice was then raised in Gujarat leading to the fall of the Congress government of Chiman Bhai Patel in the state in 1974," he said.
Asking everyone to wage a war against corruption, the firebrand BJP leader said it should not be left to the BJP alone to stand up against graft.

"Everyone should raise their voice against corruption. The Congress says it has coalition compulsions. But it has only one compulsion -- its own," Modi said, accusing the Congress of making scapegoats of its coalition partners.

Talking about Gujarat, the CM said it exemplifies that governments could be run without corruption and development could be achieved without corruption.

Later addressing another rally on Valsad on way to Surat, Modi said, "You remember Congress while talking about corruption and you remember Gujarat while talking about development in the country."
Expressing confidence that Advani's efforts through the Yatra will pay off, he said the more the Congress throws mud on the BJP, the more the lotus will bloom to thunderous applause.
