In their annual report on the state of food insecurity around the world, the UN agencies urged governments to share information about food stock levels to avoid the price swings that resulted in food riots in 2006 to 2008 and an eight per cent increase in the number of undernourished people in Africa.
In a separate report, the global anti-poverty agency ActionAid urged G20 leaders to increase investment in small farms in poor countries.
It warned millions of poor farmers would be deprived of arable land to produce food owing to growing demand for biofuels, which take up land that could be used to grow edibles, and a rush from foreign investors to control natural resources such as minerals.
The group said it had conducted a survey of 28 poor countries and found the ten most vulnerable were Congo, Burundi, South Africa, Haiti, Bangladesh, Zambia, India, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
This is what our Congress government which ruled us for more than 55 years put us in. Still they are looting away with lacs of crores Public Money in various scams, where as the people of India who deserve better life than than this struggling to make their ends meet.
