BJP leader L K Advani today said he expected West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, whose Trinamool Congress is a key ally of ruling UPA at the Centre, to speak out against corruption.
"Corruption and scams are the most discussed issues of the day. Mamata Banerjee is very outspoken and raises her voice whenever she finds anything wrong. But on the issue of corruption and scams in the UPA government, she does not say anything," Advani told a rally at Satyanarayan Park here.
Claiming successful governance by the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh and hoping that the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal too would prove to be equally good, he said "but to be good, it will have to raise its voice against what is wrong."
Claiming mass support to his Jan Chetna Yatra that he began in Bihar, Advani said "the purpose of my yatra is to highlight corruption in the government at the Centre."
The BJP leader also advised the chief minister to ensure that state highways were as well maintained as in Madhya Pradesh.
"When I came from Jabalpur with my yatra, I found state highways good compared to ill-maintained national highways.
"Why this should not happen in West Bengal when two friendly parties are ruling at the Centre?" he said.
